Shaykh Saadi Shirazi (d. 691 AH)
Hazrat Shaykh Sa'adi Shirazi (شيخ سعدي) was one of the most prominent writers of early Persian literature and a renowned Sufi poet. Some of his books are classics in the Persian Sufi literature and have been translated in many other languages. His best known works are Bostan (The Orchard) completed in 1257, and Gulistan (The Rose Garden) completed in 1258.
He passed away in 691 AH (1292 CE) and was buried in his hometown Shiraz (Iran).
