Maulana Abd al-Rahman Jami (d.898 H.)
Maulana Noor ad-Din Abd al-Rahman Jami (مولانا نور الدين عبد الرحمان جامي) quddis sirrahu, son of Nizam al-Din Ahmad, was born on 23 Shaban 817 AH (1414 C.E.) and died on 18 Muharram 898 AH (1492 C.E.). He is buried in Herat, Afghanistan.
He was raised up in Herat and received formal education in the Nizamiyyah Institute of Herat. He received his spiritual guidance first from Shaykh Saad al-Din Kashgari (d. 860 AH) and then from Khwaja Ubaid-Allah Ahrar (d. 895 AH) in the Naqshbandi tariqa. He was an Islamic scholar, a Sufi, an author, a poet, and a historian. According to some, his authored books count to 54. Among his famous words are Nafahat al-Uns, Shawahid al-Nabuwwah, Haft Aurang and Baharistan.
