Islamic Date Module

Islamic Date Module v1.0 for Joomla 1.5

Islamic Date is a highly customizable and fully localizable module for Joomla 1.5.x that displays Islamic (Hijri or Hijrah) date on your homepage (or anywhere else). It can also display Gregorian date. Features iclude:

  • Fully localizable: so all month names and day names can be manually configured to match any language (plus dir attribute can be set to Right-to-left or Left-to-right)
  • Fully customizable: with options for showing weekday, order of dates, calendar symbols, Hijri date adjustment for moonsighting, and custom formatting of the dates.

 

Future plans for this module include the following:

  • Including timezone for change of date (calculating midnight). Current timezone in use is UTC.
  • Including option for changing Hijri date at Sunset (corresponding to a particular location, given in Longitude, Latitude)
  • Inclusion of multiple algorithms for Hijri date calculation (e.g. Kuwaiti algorithm, Umm al-Qura of Saudi Arabia, and few others)
  • Option for displaying digits in localized formats (English, Indic, Indic-Arabic, and others)
  • Option for displaying date as Text or Picture
